7 COMMON THINGS YOU DO IN BORACAY: A GUIDE FOR FIRST TIME TRAVELERS

“The whole object of travel is not to set foot on foreign land; it is at last to set foot on one’s own country as a foreign land.” – G. K. Chesterton

Boracay! Oh the wonderful sun and the blue sea makes me want to dive right back into my thoughts.

As I think of hundred ways to start this blog, my mind wanders to every beautiful beaches I have been to. But what can be compared to Boracay? Oh the wonderful sun and the lovely blue waters!

My thoughts come rushing back to the those three wonderful days I’ve been there. This time, not with friends but with family. Which in fact is more exhausting, chaotic, and fun.

What more can I tell you about this beautiful destination? There’s not much lounging, drinking booze of sleeping beside the beach that happened. Although I am more for that laid back beach experience, it’s the first time our family ever went out on a trip.

And so, at 4am in the morning, we braved the roads to Malay, Aklan.

How to get there

From Iloilo:

  1. Take a cab going to Tagbak Terminal
  2. Grab a ceres liner going to Caticlan, Aklan
  3. Go down the Boracay Jetty Port
  4. Take the boat going to Boracay Island
From Manila

  1. There are Manila- Caticlan flights available
  2. Take a trike going to Boracay Jetty Port
  3. Ride the boat going to Boracay Island

I am sure most people have heard about Boracay Island. With various websites and international media that features the island, it rose to fame not only to the locals but to foreign tourist also.

Although the island might be really crowded on certain days, Boracay still continues to shine its glamour as the best destination in Asia. With me, my brother, my sister, my niece and everybody there, I don’t know how it can get more chaotic.

But here are some most common things to do in Boracay Island.

1. From the dock, BREATHE IN THE BORACAY AIR

When my brother did the first step inside the jetty port, he  took one big gulp of air to savor this moment. It was his first time going to the sought after beach, and arriving there can sometimes be too much to process.

The iconic scenes you will see upon arrival

Stop yourself from diving right in

2. Take a stroll in Boracay's busy street. CHECK OUT STATION 2 and D'MALL

Go on sight seeing and be familiar with the place. It might be a little tiring to walk around, but its definitely worth the effort!

Busy street filled with people

3. Lounge anywhere, DRINK ALCOHOL AND ENJOY THE BEACH

It'll never be complete without a beer in your hand and the smooth sand touching your feet. After roaming around the street, take a sip in some bars which offers tempting drinks. *wink*

Got this from beach hut. they offer nice cocktail combinations. And the refill is only P100!

Some bars offer comfortable seats for you to enjoy

I can do this all day.

4. Take a snap of the great BORACAY SUNSET

And just when you thought everything is beautiful, wait for the sunset. The view will take your breathe away.

5. Go on an ISLAND HOPPING

Be in awe of how beautiful the surrounding beaches are in Boracay. Enjoy the island life at the PUKA BEACH. Dont forget those sun protection though!

6.Grab some fresh food from DTALIPAPA MARKET

What is the beach without some sumptuos and fresh seafood? Try a cheaper Boracay food trip at DTalipapa market located at the back of DMall.

Choose from any fresh available seafood at very affordable prices

Seashells!

There are restaurants nearby the market where you can have your fresh food cooked the way you want it

While waiting, take some IG worthy snaps

7. Cap the night with FAMILY BONDING MOMENTS

You can end the night differently whichever you want it though. But for me, a good conversation over some drinks is perfect especially when you are with family.

Discovered this nice place near our hotel.

But forgot the name. haha. It has a foodhall available for dinner.

All smiles to end the night!
